Partners - Composite chart ?

Why talk about partner themes? One day I went to the Astrothème website to see the compatibility between two people. The site offered to make a calculation. Here we go. I do the calculations for different relationships. However, the result is very disappointing. 30% for my best friend.

The question became more urgent when I worked on the birth chart of a couple. They met in the second half of their lives. Each had gone their way with the premonition that someone was meant for them without having met him or her.

Usually when studying the partnership: (married couple, parent-child, contractual partners, friends) we use a composite horoscope or a synastry. But sometimes it is interesting to view the two birth charts as they are, like here above.

Several clues in these two horoscopes caught my attention. Both have Mars opposite the Moon. Both have a Sun in the Air Element, a Moon in a Water Element and a Mars in Earth Element. Moreover, Saturn also plays a role. In both cards Saturn is in a Water element.

In his 4 books “the Fire – Water – Earth – Air elements” of Steven Forrest (https://www.forrestastrology.com/collections/books) about the elements, he describes this as a confrontational dialogue, but in which each party moves towards an evolution and/or cultivates him/her self. So it's an interesting dynamic.

The combination of the Moon in Water element in both horoscopes is not a simple combination, but constructive, because although the Moons are not in the same sign, they are in the same element and it adds as a similar energy, such as an inner lighting with the same color. This creates recognition between the two people.

The two Mercurys are certainly not in the same element (one in Taurus - the other in Libra), but both are under the control of Venus.

Venus is the only personal planet that does not find a correspondence between the two themes in terms of the element (Cancer - Libra), nor in terms of the House (10 and 3 respectively), but as ruler of Mercury she is involved in the process.

How would I interpret this? What am I observing? Reciprocity: Moon and Saturn are both in a Water element and one's Moon is in the other's sign and vice versa. (Here Moon in Pisces for one and Saturn in Pisces for the other, and vice versa). As indicated above, there is a level of recognition between the two planets and there is also “mutual help” and cooperation.

If we were to approach this collaboration in a person's horoscope, it would be seen as a kind of interaction (e.g. Moon in Capricorn and Saturn in Cancer) as compensation for what is normally experienced as difficult. A Moon in Capricorn or a Saturn in Cancer is not easily experienced by humans. Moon speaks about food, about meeting basic needs. The Moon is nourished on all levels: physical (the baby), emotional, intellectual, sentimental, it is the umbilical cord. Saturn speaks of separation, individuation, responsibility but also of safety and the fear of exclusion and as I once heard: “I wanted to be born, I came at full speed ». In this case, neither one planet nor the other planet is very comfortable in their sign, but the reciprocity (the Moon in the sign that Saturn controls, and Saturn in the sign that the Moon controls) enhances the transmission energy, this is mutual aid. How is this mutual aid expressed in this case? How is this reflected in the life of this couple?

The emotions and needs are visible in the location of the two Moons. Feeling these Moons. They are in the Water Element and even have a psychic dimension. Especially because the Moon in Pisces is also in House 8, it can get lost in its immense waters, feel in its inner self and needs help from a Saturn that is structured but also sits in this same Water. A Saturn in Pisces has an “invisible” structure, the structure is so internalized that it does not manifest itself externally, it is only observable. It is as if the needs of one (with Moon) are implicitly understood by the other.

The other, Moon in Scorpio conjunct Neptune, is a Moon that can be surprisingly honest, with this person this honesty is applied to himself with severity and with the demand that the other person also applies it.

How does Saturn manifest in each card? Since Saturn is in House 4 in the second horoscope, its structure is closely linked to the stability of its House and home. With a stable home structure, this person can also manifest stability externally.

Saturn stands in for the other Chart (Chart 1)  as structure is closely linked to the work context and helping others. This person will look for a responsible and supportive work environment and will get there with the help of his 3rd House – Moon/Neptune. When his Moon finds the right communication with others that nourishes him and includes his spiritual dimension in this communication, his work situation becomes structured.

The Composite

A composite horoscope is calculated from the centers of the two cards. In this we find a horoscope with the Moon conjunct Saturn and the two planets in Capricorn.

In a personal horoscope, a Moon conjunct Saturn will lead the astrologer to see the person as someone who does not take into account his needs, his basic nutrition. It is not so much that this need does not exist, but that these needs depend on what Saturn wants and is in its own sign, in other words: dignity, respect and safety come first. So in the case of this couple there would be little room for emotional understanding. However, this is not at all the case; the needs of both are very present and mutually understood. Caring for others is one of their priorities. There is also a strong emphasis on mutual protection (a bit like the Moon is in Cancer). So this isn't really a manifestation of a Capricorn moon.

Saturn also plays its role and the couple works on its manifestation, its external presence and how others see them is important. « Are we respected? » This is a priority for the couple and Saturn in Capricorn and in the 5th house speaks of this.

In conclusion, we can say that in a compatibility analysis of a married couple, the inner dimension becomes visible by comparing the two birth horoscopes. Synastry offers a vision of what one brings to the other, the Composite gives the dynamic of the couple, but the real dialogue and the possibility of this dialogue is revealed to me in the two birth charts, and through reciprocity that becomes visible. It is this reciprocity that opens the potential door to the evolution of each person in the couple. The body content of your post goes here.
